Dynamic QR codes can do more than open a link. With rules you decide what happens when someone scans, and with Analytics you see who's scanning, without ever storing anyone's IP address.

Open the rules of a QR code

  1. Open Cards → QR codes and tap your QR code to edit it.

  2. Go to the Rules tab.

  3. Turn on the rules you want and tap Save rules.

Rules only work on dynamic QR codes.

Rules on every plan

  • Automatic UTM: adds utm_source=zolu_qr, utm_medium=qr and a campaign with your QR code's name to web links, so you can see QR visits in Google Analytics. It never overwrites UTM tags the link already has.

  • Expiry and scan limit: set Ends on (a date) and/or Maximum scans. After that, people see a "no longer available" page. You can write your own message for that page, like This offer ended. Thanks for scanning!

Pro and Business rules (available soon)

These rules come with the Pro and Business plans, available soon:

  • By device: iPhone and Android go to different places.

  • By phone language: for example, Spanish phones go to your Spanish page.

  • By schedule: a different link outside your opening hours.

  • A/B test: split scans between two destinations.

  • Password: people type it before they see the destination.

You can already try them with Test your rules: pick a phone, language, day and time, and Zolu shows where the scan would go. Saving them needs Pro or Business.

Want to know when Pro opens? Look for Notify me when Pro opens next to the upgrade buttons in the app.

See your analytics

  1. Open Grow → Analytics (or tap Analytics in Cards).

  2. Choose All cards and QR codes or a single card or QR code.

  3. Pick a Date range: 7, 30 or 90 days.

You'll see Scans, Unique visitors, Scans by day, Countries, Cities, Source (QR code, NFC, link, email signature…), Devices, Systems, Languages and Time of day. Tap Export CSV to download the numbers.

Good to know

  • The Free plan shows the last 30 days. With Pro and Business (available soon) you can pick up to 90 days.

  • Zolu never stores IP addresses. Each scan is kept with an anonymous fingerprint that changes every day (deleted after 13 months), and the charts use daily counts. Bots and link previews (WhatsApp, Slack, iMessage…) don't count.

  • The same person scanning twice within 30 seconds counts once.

  • Times are shown in your own time zone.
